Pre de provence soap review

TRUSTWORTHY

I was having a discussion about soap making and pure ingredients and scents with a friend who is also interested in the subject. We got onto the topic of classic lavender French soaps, and she began telling me about her favorite, Pre de Provence. which she buys at places like Marshall’s or TJ Maxx when they have it. She hadn’t been able to find it lately, she said, and missed it. I told her that if I came across any I would pick up a bar for her. It so happened that I did find a bar of it, although not in a TJ Maxx, but in a beauty supply store.

The price was good, especially considering this was a HUGE bar of soap. I admit that I did not admit to her that I had
never tried the brand, at least not their lavender. I had tried some of their other scents. I have used a lot of various lavender scented bars, and I became a bit bored and moved on to other scent types, although I do love lavender.

I just never got around to using this one. Since this was supposed to be the quintessential lavender soap according to my friend, and since the price was good, I decided to buy us both a bar. It did smell very nice through the packaging. When I got my bar home, I didn’t open it right away.

I was using up another bar of soap at the time so I waited until it was gone. When I opened up the Pre de Provence. the lavender smell hit me.

  • like a gale storm– in a nice way. You could immediately tell that this was pure lavender oil used in making this. It had an exquisite fragrance, truly one of the finest lavenders I have experienced in soap.

I had to agree with my friend even before trying the soap that it was definitely the “perfect” lavender. The bar itself was attractive. It was a light bluish-lavender color with pieces of lavender flower scattered throughout. It seemed like a solid bar.

When I took my first shower with it, you could smell it all over the house. It lathered very easily, and the lavender flowers made for a gentle exfoliating effect. The soap was not the gentlest in the world. It was not harsh, and the scent did not irritate the skin– but it was a very highly cleansing soap.

My skin felt a bit dry after using it. I still enjoyed it very much though. Since it was winter, I decided to use it for a hand soap rather than leave it for the shower, because I knew that if I used it daily my skin would get dry. This is probably a fantastic soap for someone with oily skin.

After using it, you feel very clean and you smell like lavender for a long time. It is a very, very nice quality fragrance. This product is the epitome of a fine French soap. I think it would be a delight to anyone who is a fan of French soap making and especially for fans of pure, quality lavender.
